Description
This intimate and powerful recording of voice and double-bass duets offers the listener a front row seat in a performance that dances on the boundary between strength and fragility, evoking emotions which probe the depth of the human spirit. Featuring fourteen compositions including six Bermejo originals alongside works by Milton Nascimento, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans and Abbey Lincoln, bass and voice weave a transparent web between the worlds of jazz and Latin song.
Mili Bermejo was an extraordinary vocalist and composer whose power and sensitivity derive from her conviction to the lyric and her devotion to the art of song. Dan Greenspan plays the double-bass with a passion that makes the textures and moods of the music almost palpable — a perfect complement to Mili’s voice. In a world where bigger is more often than not perceived as better, duo confirms that power in music can come in surprisingly small packages.
