Description
Multi-talented cellist Karen Kaderavek, who has enjoyed a prestigious career as soloist and chamber artist, performs a varied set of works from twentieth-century Russian and Eastern European composers.
Joined on most of the album by pianist Randall Hodgkinson, Cello Alchemy presents works by Rodion Shchedrin, Leos Janácek, Aram Khachaturian, Nikolai Roslavetz, Alfred Mendelsohn and Alexander Mossolov.
The recording includes excellent notes by John Wiser, delving into the fascinating lives of the composers who created marvelous music in often tumultuous times and circumstances under which many of these pieces were composed.
