Description
Music for Strings and Mallet Percussion features three highly distinct-but-related works — solo percussion, string quartet and a violin/marimba duet — from composers Daniel Godfrey, Elliott Schwartz and Andrew Frank. Among the many highlights:
- The long-awaited return of Marimolin, performing Andrew Frank’s Elective Affinities III. Marimolin’s GM Recordings debut recording was voted ‘Classical CD of the Month’ in CD Review, receiving a perfect rating.
- The percussion wizardry of Steven Schick, performing simultaneously both parts of Daniel Godfrey’s Music for Marimba and Vibraphone.
- The first recording of Elliot Schwartz’s oft-performed Bellagio Variations, exquisitely delivered by the Jennings Quartet, in elegant homage to Schwartz’s composition teacher in the 1950s, Otto Luening.
